A Review on Foo Fighters Blog Review http://toddswift.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/guest-review-new-foo-fighters.html

Me, being a particular fan myself of David Grohl’s music I find this blog suited to my interests and aspirations. The Blog talks about Foo Fighters latest album and how they still impress their fans with this latest album showing how the band has really kept up to date and also kept their brilliant reputation of being successful rock band artists. This Review explains how David changes his tone of voice in each song and the words that were used were carefully chosen to please fans and create emotive music.  The Blog reviewer: James Christopher Shappard gives quotes from the music tracks to identify this unique talent that David Grohl has and how it effects his consumers in wanting to buy the album. At the end of the Blog he explains that the album is now available for people to buy and is in a way advertising the product to people who may not know foo fighters as a band, explaining that ‘Wasting Light is a triumphant album for the Foo Fighters and rock music in general’. He makes the album suited to all rock fans in general than just Foo fighter fans, getting people to aspire foo fighters and also to carry on reading his reviews as they are so positive and sound exciting.   He writes the blog as if it should be informative for the reader about the new album ‘Wasting light’ when actually there is very little information about the album and has very bias views on what he thinks about the album. The one comment that I don’t agree with was the comparison between two other rock bands as it doesn’t flow with the message he was trying to perceive that David Grohl is original. I therefore rate this review as 3/5.

In Real Life Review(2013) documentary-‘people who invented the internet had no idea that this would be the basis of society’

This Documentary, in which opens our eyes and minds to the development of technology, and how it is affecting younger people who have been brought up with internet and games. This is a new evaluation on what the world is currently like today. This Documentary focuses on the most extreme cases expressing why we should be worried about the new digital world in which we are currently living at.

The documentary switches scenes from us looking deep into the internet, of where its located and of how powerful and technological it is, to the extent of how young people are affected by this, cause of its influence, manipulation and unknown powers that isn’t shown in front of us. Julian Assage provides a narrative with also Beeban Kidron (British film director) commentators, including interviews with young people providing emotional biographies by asking awkward questions and receiving shocking answers.

The biographies that were included were about porn, rape, online-dating, you tube diaries , obsessive gamer and suicide.  The porn story was about a 15 year old teen that has developed an addiction to watching porn as the internet is not controlled well and it’s easy accessible.  He had expectations for every girl to be like the girls in the porn videos and always thought about having sex with girls. He feels upset by this and frustrated and is quite an edgy scene to watch. Should this be allowed? In the future do we want our children to think this way?

The Rape story was frightening, it was about this young girl who was obsessed with social networking that she could never go anywhere without her phone. This issue lead to the point of someone taking her phone, in which then lead her to doing sexual favours, for her to get her phone back.  This scene is very serious and quite unrestful.  As an audience you feel upset that she forced herself to do the favours instead of using her common sense to call the police. But it was as if the phone was part of her as she was so desperate.  We should be able to live without technology as we have done before but in this current stage of life, has technology developed so much that we can now not live without it? It’s dangerous that it’s affecting some people like this…..

The online-dating was every mixed emotive, it was a positive story but also mind-bending. It was basically about a young teen that was having a relationship online using a web-tool Skype in which you can use webcam and see who you are talking to on the computer screen. But is this a natural relationship?  In the end they meet up in person and they are in love with each other and technology which makes the audience look at the internet in another point of view helping people connect and find loved ones who thought they would never meet.  Could this be a new phenomenon where more people are going to build their relationships through the internet than anything else?

The you-tube diaries was very exciting to watch and was amazing on how many people watched this and came to meet the young girl who videoed herself, and how popular she became through just being herself online.   But is it good to exploit yourself to people?

The obsessive gamer story was quite distressing as he was an A* student and he failed because he gamed-hard, so it ruined his future. But shall we blame technology for this or for the fact that he had no self-control?

The most shocking and depressing story was about a young teenager that hung-himself due to cyber bullying online. Bullying has always occurred in the playground but is it too much when we use technology like the internet, where you can be bullied on there too with you seeing it or being spoken about behind your back. Is it too much for some people that are being targeted on constantly?

The music that is played between scenes is quite eerie and disturbing, and with the shocking scenes affects the audience greatly making you feel paranoid and disorientated.  Also the statistics that are brought up about the internet control was mind-blowing. Did you know that everything we search on the internet is constantly recorded on an archive in which people can look into?

I found this film very interesting to watch but I also feel it concentrated too much on the negative side than the positive. But the point was to express that point of view that it is affecting us in different ways and that we should be aware of what’s going on. To end on this statement I was appalled by the fact that Face book and other websites didn’t respond to the documentary which could have been in their favour to and also be supportive. This makes me feel as the audience that the internet is more dangerous than what I thought it would ever be.
